A Bank PO or a Probationary Officer is essentially an Assistant Manager of Scale I in an bank. He/she is a Junior Manager of Grade I scale and therefore referred to as Scale I Officer. Once the choice criteria is completed, a Probationary Officer should undergo an intensive educational program at Institute of Banking Management wherever they are trained. The probation period might last for two years. This once more differs from bank to bank.

Bank PO Syllabus & Exam Pattern
Recruitment is done in generally three steps process. The first two phase is Computer Based Test (CBT) which are preliminary exams and mains exam respectively. The Third step is the interview process. Candidates selected after the first two rounds get eligible for the interview round. After getting selected in these three rounds a merit list is generated based on the candidate’s performance. The one who make it to the list are selected for the post of PO in different – different bank according to their performance in the exam .
The syllabus of Bank PO exam is designed to assess the candidate’s aptitude as well as his general awareness.
1. The preliminary paper (first paper) is divided into three sections : – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Verbal Ability.
2. The mains paper(second paper) contain five sections namely:- General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Verbal Ability. This pattern may differs from bank to bank respectively.
3. The third paper is Interview Process. the level of interview depends or varies bank to bank.
